I had some spare time today, so I set myself a little project, which I hope will be ongoing. I wanted to generate some artwork for some of my favourite Nine Inch Nails Songs These didn’t really get a single release (I realise some may have had music videos, or feature as B-Sides) so there was no real frame of reference for the imagery.
I decided to use Midjourney for this, and create some interesting prompts using my favourite lyrics from these songs.

With the help of some great information around creating complex prompts from the guys at Gilbatree. And a lot of trial and error, I came up with this prompt…
::5 Surreal Digital Illustration::2 dreamlike, otherworldly, surrealist techniques, unique, ultra-detailed, digital art, abstract but representational, Adobe Photoshop, inspired, artistic, award-winning, gothic style::4 photo, moody, simple, clean, modern::4
Which does a really good job of creating the style of image I was looking for. So combing this with some NIN lyrics for example..
And if you see my friend, I thought I would again, A single thin straight line::5 Surreal Digital Illustration::2 dreamlike, otherworldly, surrealist techniques, unique, ultra-detailed, digital art, abstract but representational, Adobe Photoshop, inspired, artistic, award-winning, gothic style::4 photo, moody, simple, clean, modern::4
After a lot of re-rolling and refining using variations, then adding the logo and some nice typography using Adobe Illustrator, we end up with some fantastic looking images.

I realise there are many imperfections in these images, that could be ironed out with some photoshop work, but I thought it more interesting to leave these in.
Let me know your thoughts below, what songs do you feel our missing record covers?
